Being Corrected By My Toddler

There is nothing funnier (yes, that is a valid word in my vocabulary) than being corrected by a toddler. There is nothing more humbling either, if it is a serious correction. But tonight I'm talking about the funny kind.

Nick and I call each other 'Babe.' So, for nicknames around here, I have Babe, Bubba, and Bug. Can you see how easy it would be to call someone by the wrong name? I have been calling Joey 'Babe' more often than I care to admit, intending to say 'Bubba.' Finally, he looks at me in exasperation, puts his hand on his chest and says, "I'm Bubba, not Babe." He used his best 'get it right, Mom' voice.

Tonight, I called Nick 'sweetheart' rather than Babe or the occasional 'honey.' Joey chastises me, saying, "Don't call him sweetheart! He's honey." What a funny child.

Bug's new favorite place to go is in the kitchen. He is FAST, too. I will pull him out of the kitchen, place him back in the living room, walk back to the kitchen myself, and by the time I get in the kitchen and turn around, Bug is already peeking around the corner. For some reason, it absolutely delights Joey to see Bug in the kitchen. All I hear is laughter, from both boys, when they are in the kitchen. The funny thing about Bug coming into the kitchen is how he gets there. Every time, he goes through his "secret passageway." He goes between the legs of the piano. He rarely goes around it. Here are a couple pictures of him going through his secret passageway. Please excuse the bright spot, the flash was reflected off the corner of the wall.

Hope you have a great weekend. I'm sure I'll have something to say later.
