Buh-Sprise!!

Buh-sprise. That is how Joey says "surprise." It cracks me up. For such an intelligent child, there are not many words he says incorrectly, but that is one of them. I think it will make me a little sad when he starts saying it right.

As I had said before, we told Angela that we were coming down so she could set up the surprise for Nick's parents. She set a lunch date with Paul, and a dinner date with Mary and Chuck for Thursday. It was really nice to have Steve along with us, not only to get to know him better before officially adding him to the family, but also because he became our photographer to catch the surprise on Mom's and Dad's faces.
Angie went into Dad's office and asked him to come outside and "meet someone." We were standing just outside the door, waiting. The look on his face was priceless. Steve did an awesome job capturing the moment.
When Mom and Chuck came over for dinner, we had Joey and Nick answer the door, and once again, Steve captured the moment of surprise on camera. Mary took awhile to get over the shock. I don't think she was over it, even when we went to the zoo the following afternoon.

When we got to my parents', we didn't have the "photographer" with us. I didn't want to walk in with a camera in my face, I wanted to enjoy the full force of everyone's surprise. So after greeting everybody, I had them reenact their surprise. Aubrey cooperated nicely.....

Josh did not. He behaved exactly as anyone who knows him would expect him to. And, as everyone would expect, Stacei found him hilarious. I love these guys. There is no shortage of hilarity around this crew.
I had had such a hard time not spilling the beans before coming home. I must have talked on the phone with Stacei three or four times in the two weeks before we came, and was so close several times to giving something away. And on Friday morning, Aubrey had left a note on my Facebook Wall saying how she was looking forward to seeing Nick (thinking that he was in Portland on business) but that it would make her miss me and the kids even more. I left a note back that I would have Nick pass on a hug when he got back. It was nice to know they had NO clue. It made the moment of reunion that much sweeter.
