Then And Now

Three (or almost three) years may not seem like a long time. It will soon be Memorial Day weekend....which is the weekend that Nick moved up to Alaska three years ago. I, of course, followed three months later after the house was sold and Nick was born. That has been nearly half our married lives. But when you look through the growth of a child, three little years seems like a lifetime.
I have been thinking about how much the boys have grown since we have been up here, so I decided to post "then and now" pictures. The first two are of how little Joey and Nick were when we moved here. The next two are of Joey and Nick as they are now. The last one is of Ethan....just because he wasn't born when we moved here, that's no reason to exclude him. After all, he is here now, therefore is included in the "now" pictures!

Joey has always been a "Gerber baby" kind of cute. He has a very soft look about him. As I said to my mom the other day, he looks kind of fluffy! In this picture, he is showing off his strong muscles.
Joey is now our scholar, even though he hasn't been to school yet. You can see in this picture that he has written the word "frog". He sounded it out by himself and wrote it down. He likes to make grocery lists for us, and is working on sounding out words like 'milk', 'corn', 'dog food'. (Not that we have a dog, but he usually has several imaginary pets; all of which are named Sparky.)

Nick has always had a unique way of manipulating his facial expressions to add such an impact to what he was saying....both verbal and nonverbal. He, too, looks like he's showing off his strong muscles.

Nick is still proficient in his unique facial expressions. It is hard to find a "normal" picture of him. However, when he take him to get his pictures professionally done, and half to pay for them, he tends not to smile.

And then there is Ethan. He is so precious, and goofy, and lately, crabby. Yes, he is teething again. The upper two front teeth are trying to make their way through, which does not make him happy. But he still has his moments of goofiness, such as putting his feet "up on the table" when he is eating. And I absolutely love it when he lays his head on my shoulder when I have him sitting on my hip.
Three more precious kids I can't imagine.
