Mt. Redoubt

Since the big local news is, of course, the eruptions of Mt. Redoubt, I thought I would share a couple pictures taken from the AVO website. Anchorage has finally seen some ash fall and the airport is now closed. Until now, it was the individual airlines making the decisions whether or not to fly into Anchorage....now, nobody can. I guess it is good we got back when we did.
This first picture is from space, obviously. You can see the ash cloud clearly, and it is quite amazing to know that it could be seen from space.

This is another taken from the eruption on 3/27/09, in the evening.
And this one certainly is the most dramatic. Absolutely beautiful. This was taken just before 1:30am this morning. Incredible!
Since I rarely get the computer for any length of time before late at night, I just don't have the energy to do much. I must get to bed and get some sleep before church tomorrow.
