The Blessing of Family

As we were frantically trying to get all four of us ready to get our family pictures taken today, I got a phone call from Cathy, my second cousin who lives here in Anchorage. I had tried to reach her before, but because of circumstances in her life, it is very difficult to reach her. I had left her a message about a month ago, but she was just now able to get back to me.

She called to invite us to have Thanksgiving with her family! She said her boys (ages 17 and 18) were pumped to have our boys over (even before we accepted the invite.) Since we had just bought our Thanksgiving fixings last night, I told her I would bring our small turkey and mashed potatoes. She is going to get another small turkey (they are each about ten pounds) so that we have enough to feed four teenagers. She also asked if I knew how to cook candied yams, so I told her I would bring them too. I will also bake an apple pie. I couldn't bring myself to just buy a dessert if I were going to be a guest at someone's house. I would have made a pumpkin cheesecake, but they will already have pumpkin pie.
This picture was taken to show you how young my son is, and already starting to get "fresh" with the ladies. Of course, its just Mommy, so maybe I shouldn't worry too much.
