Ethan loves getting around on his own. He knows that when we get to Bubba's school, he can get down and walk to the classroom. But he tries to push his privilege, and attempts to throw himself out of my arms as soon as I get him out of the carseat.
He loves to get into and onto everything that he can. Last night he climbed up on the couch. I don't mind; he can be up there. However, he decided he didn't want to sit on the couch, he wanted to stand and walk along it. For a child who is still a bit unsteady on a hard, even surface, walking along a soft, uneven surface is not the wisest decision. As fate would have it, Ethan saw a toy on the floor that he wanted and tried to reach down to get it. He went head first off the couch and landed his forehead right on the egde of the viewfinder, or binoculars, as the boys call it. His forehead promptly swelled up, leaving a dent in the middle of the bump, and colored spectacularly. This happened just before bed, so we put him down and hoped that he would feel better in the morning. Here is a picture of what the bruise looked like when he got up. The swelling is down, but he still has quite a colorful mark. Poor little guy.
