Veteran's Day

In honor of Veteran's Day tomorrow, Joey's school had an assembly about "soldier stuff."  (That's what Joey said it was about.)  They got to see guns and gadgets that the soldiers use, flags, and here how the soldiers protect our country.

One of the neatest things happened just as we were getting to the school.  Miss Bellamy has a couple friends in the Army, one a flight medic, and asked if they could arrange for a helicopter could land out in their field.  The request had to be cleared through Fort Lewis and it all worked out.  As we were getting to the classroom, we were told that everybody was outside watching the helicopter take off.  We made it just in time.  It was so neat to watch the kids watch the chopper take off.  There were cheers almost as loud as the chopper blades and everyone waving as they circled the field before leaving.

Melissa emailed me one of the pictures she took with her phone.
