The Beginning of a New Phase

We have made it to Alaska. This is a period of major adjustments for me. This is the first time I have lived away from my family whom I draw great strength and support from. I miss them all terribly.

I miss them the most when Joey starts talking about "Help Nanny make house nigh-night" and "Aunt Aubrey, Jesse, Rina over soon", which of course means that Joey helped Nanny put the bounce house away and that he wants Aunt Aubrey and her kids to come over soon. Joey also spends much of his time talking about Papa Buddy and the big truck and Uncle Josh's tickling.

I have seen very little of Alaska at this point. I did spend much of Tuesday driving back and forth between Nick's office and home, but haven't stepped out of the house since then. That is due in most part to my still adjusting to being the mother of two, instead of just one. Baby Nick takes up so much of my time feeding him, that I still have not figured out how to balance the new baby with all the other daily needs, such as cooking or eating, for example! Last night when Nick got home from work, he held Baby Nick while I cooked dinner. Then Baby Nick needed to eat, so I fed him while Nick ate. Then I put Joey to bed and finally took a shower, my first in three days! By that time it was time to feed the baby again, and since he was in rare form and fell right to sleep, I had to take advantage of the opportunity to go to bed myself. So I never managed to eat any of the dinner that I made! I should reach my weight loss goals sooner than later if this is how my days are always going to be!

Because all of my time is spent adjusting to the new baby, I haven't had the opportunity to begin adjusting to my new life in Alaska. I suppose that will have to come in time.

Nick is excited that we are finally here with him. It's nice to be wanted. It will be especially nice this weekend as Nick gets a three day weekend due to Labor Day, so we will actually get to spend some time together! Hopefully, we can finish unpacking the suitcases so we can start unpacking the boxes! Once we can get some semblance of order around here, I can take pictures of our new place to share.

Well, Baby Nick is starving and I think Bubba has fallen asleep on our bedroom floor! I should go take care of them, but I will write again when I have another chance.
