Long Day

Our day started way too early.  We were up at 3:45am to get ready to drive to the Sea/Tac airport to drop Nick and Paul off.  They have started their adventure; loading a storage unit full to the brim into a moving truck and driving almost 2600 miles in three days.  I am praying that the weather stays clear for safe driving directions.

As we crested Snoqualmie Pass, there were snow flurries.  It didn't amount to much, but made us a bit aprehensive for the rest of the week.  When we dropped the men off at the airport, Nick had a hard time saying good-bye to Daddy.  He wanted to pick Daddy back up as we were driving away from him at the curb.  The rest of the week should be interesting.  Even though the drive back was only 2 1/2 hours, I had a difficult time staying awake.  I tried everything; cranking the Christmas music, rolling down the window for brief periods of time (so I wouldn't freeze the boys), dancing, slapping my face.....I am sure that drivers in the other cars were calling the crazy person hotline to report a runaway loony!  We made it back in one piece, but we were struggling.

After lunch, we took Joey to school.  I brought the little boys home for a nap.  I wanted to lay down as well, but I couldn't guarantee that I would wake up in time to pick Joey up, so I stayed up and read.  I woke up a few minutes after three, already late for picking Joey up (he gets out at three.)  I ran through the house getting the boys up, throwing them in their carseats.  I gave a quick call to the school, almost in tears, letting them know that I was running late and to make sure Joey was still there (that he hadn't tried to get on the bus).  I was so worried that Joey would be scared or worried, but he seemed to do okay.  We went to the library after school to get a few books for the boys.

I put the boys to bed early.....Nick and Joey are still awake, whining and trying to find ways to stay up and get in trouble.  Nick's new "cute" thing is to empty the drawers in the dresser, unfolding all my hard work and throwing it around the room.  I think, when we get the bunk beds set up, I will handcuff him to the rail so he can't get out of bed.  Maybe not.

I know that I can't go to bed now because I would sleep for a few hours and then be wide awake for the rest of the night.  So I will try to stay awake for a couple more hours and then get to bed early (for me) and try to catch up on some sleep.  Good night to you all.
