Midnight Desire

Last night, Joey climbed into bed with us around 3:00am. He was sleeping well until a little after 4am when he woke up a little, and still being half asleep started crying. He called out to me, "Mamma, Mamma, see Grandma Mary?"
I asked, "Do you love Grandma Mary?"
Joey cried, "Uh huh. See Grandma Mary? See Grandma Mary?"
He kept getting more and more agitated.
Finally I asked if he wanted to see a picture of Grandma Mary, because although it was a quarter after four in the morning, I would have been willing to sit at the computer and find all the pictures of Grandma Mary we have if it would make Bubba feel better. But he didn't want a picture, he wanted to see Grandma Mary.
Soon after, he fell back asleep, so I snuck out of bed and went downstairs to get a picture of Grandma Mary holding Joey. Grandma Mary had sent it to Bubba in a card when we first moved. I brought it back upstairs and set it on the desk next to the bed.
Just a couple minutes later, Bubba woke up crying again and said, "Look picture."
So I laid the picture of him and Grandma Mary on the pillow next to him and he gave a half smile and closed his eyes. Then his eyes popped back open to look at the picture. This happened two or three times until he finally took hold of the picture and fell asleep.
About an hour later, he woke up crying again and asked, "See Aunt Angie?" He asked that a couple more times until he fell back asleep. I was all set to go back downstairs and get the picture of Aunt Angie and her boyfriend Steve that Grandma Mary had sent in the same card, but he fell asleep without needing it.

On the up side, Baby Nick slept through the night again!! He fell asleep in my arms between 11-11:30pm as I was watching a movie. When the movie was over at midnight, I brought him up the stairs and laid him in his bassinet, fully expecting him to wake up and need to eat. But he surprised me and slept until almost 6:15am when he finally ate. After he ate a couple ounces, he went back to sleep until 8:30am! If only I was as lucky to sleep so well.
