Mommy's Big Helper

Yesterday Bubba and I made Jack-O-Lantern cookies. My mom would make these cookies for Halloween and I thought that Bubba would enjoy them too. So I got everything out and had Bubba stand on a chair next to me. He was a VERY big help. He helped me pour the ingredients into the mixer and turn the mixer on. He was an expert taste tester, which I believe is his favorite part! (Who doesn't enjoy that part?)

After chilling the dough, you roll the cookies into balls and pat them flat with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar. Bubba helped me with that part too. He was very good at putting the glass in the sugar and flattening out the cookies. When the cookies were all baked and frosted, Bubba again was my expert taste tester. He had two cookies, before dinner, and thought that he should have more! I think the cookies were a hit.

Baby Nick helped too, by only screaming for half the time! One day, he will be big enough to help in the kitchen as well. And that day will come way too fast!

Bubba is so funny. The other day, Nick and I were watching something on TV where the characters got in a food fight. Bubba runs up to the TV and yells, "Guys, guys, 'top it guys. I'll lipe it." (which means, stop it and I'll wipe it) Then he proceeds to wipe his hands over the TV as if to wash off the characters!

Then last night, I must have been really tired, which means that I get giggly. Joey got up out of bed about 10pm and wouldn't go back until Nick and I went to bed about 11:30pm. When we got in bed, Joey would not stop playing. He would climb all over us, scoot down to the bottom of the bed, and all the while offering up a running commentary on his actions. I could not stop laughing! Which, of course, made Joey play more. I think Nick ended up getting more frustrated with me than with Joey. We eventually all fell asleep, well after midnight. But I'm not sure if Joey fell asleep first or if I did! At least he slept in until 8:30am this morning.

Today is the day we are going "trick-or-treating" with Randy and Cheryl. Joey is very excited to be Bob the Builder this year. Not that he understands what Halloween is, which is fine with me. He just likes to wear the hard hat that the costume came with. I showed him a picture of his cousin Jesse dressed up as Bob the Builder a couple years ago. He was pretty excited to be just like Jesse. Baby Nick is going to be dressed up as a Motocross rider, another Jesse costume. They don't make many costumes for the 0-12 month range. Most places only carry 12-18 month size as the smallest. If we had enough foresight, we could have found something online to order, but this will be just as good. I want to find the black stocking cap that Joey wore when he was younger to be a "helmet" but I will have to find the right clothes box, and that might be a challenge!

Baby Nick is telling me his is very upset right now, so I better go take care of him. I will post pictures later of the boys dressed up.
