I'm not sure which. Apparently, every year around the end of January, Anchorage experiences the start of a thaw due to the Chinook Winds. So right now, all the snow has melted off the trees, the icicles are dripping everywhere, and the temperature is in the mid to upper thirties.
The problem with this is two-fold. One; while there is dripping water everywhere, it freezes as it hits the ground, leaving a solid sheet of ice in front of doorways and on sidewalks. This makes things very 'slippaly' outside, as Joey says.
The second problem with this is even worse; it gives a false hope that spring is coming. I have to remind myself that there is still FOUR months of winter left up here. Just when it gets very slushy outside, the freeze will come back, make the entire world a sheet of ice, and start the winter cycle all over again!
I suppose one day I will see the spring again, right about the time of the summer solstice! :)
Joey is sitting in the chair, pouring water out of his cup into his hands. When I told him to stop, he said, "No, I'm washin' my knees!" As if that would make it okay. What a goof ball. I am very proud to say that when I laid Joey down in his big boy bed for nap, I left him alone in hopes that he would fall asleep and not get up and play. When I checked on him about fifteen minutes later, he was asleep and stayed in his bed for the whole time! If I can make this a habit for him during nap time, it gives me hope for bed time!
I suppose it is Joey's turn on the computer; I told him he could play later. So I will give up my time to help him play one of his games.
